As will all PoE voltage drops over distance. As a rule of thumb you can lose up to 6V per every 100′- 200′ of wiring, depending on the gauge. Lower power also means more amperage means more heat and perhaps issues with the 24 gauge wires in CAT5. You may need to use 18 gauge wiring for best distance results.

The Intellinet Network Solutions 1-Port Gigabit High-Power PoE+ Extender Repeater, Model 560962, is designed to extend connection distances from a PoE source to an output device another 100 m (328 ft.) via Cat5e or Cat6 cable. Lower power strength increases the amperage and that generates more heat in the wire. Depending on distance, you may need to use more pairs or wire or 18 gauge wiring as a dedicated DC power buss – like low voltage landscape wire and run Ethernet on a 1-pair 24 AWG. There are options to maximize your distance and PoE output when used in conjunction with our 865XS PRO Gigabit PoE Extender or PoE DSLAM that can power a 56V 60W PoE IP PTZ Camera at 4,000 ft away.
