Corning Cable Systems ALTOS® Lite™Gel-Free, SingleJacket, Single-Armored Cables are designed for campus backbones in direct-buried installations. The loose tube design provides stable and highly reliable transmission parameters for a variety of voice, data, video and imaging applications. These cables also provide high-fiber density within a given cable diameter while allowing flexibility to suit many system configurations. The single armored construction provides additional crush and rodent protection with a high-strength ripcord under the armor for easy stripping. Gel-free means the cables are fully waterblocked using craft-friendly, water -swellable materials which make cable access simple and require no clean up. The flexible, craft-friendly buffer tubes are easy to route in closures, and the SZ-stranded, loose tube design isolates fibers from installation and environmental rigors while allowing easy midspan access. These cables have a medium density polyethylene jacket that is rugged, durable and easy to strip.

The innovative FastAccess technology feature combined with the gel-free loose tube design simplifies removal of t he cable jacket and accessing the buffer tubes. The gel-free design means the cables are fully waterblocked using craft-friendly water-swellable materials which makes cable access simple and require no clean up. Corning MIC interlocking armored plenum cables are designed for use in plenum, riser and general purpose environments for intrabuilding backbone and horizontal installations. These multifiber cables use individually jacketed 900 um buffered fibers enabling easy, consistent stripping and facilitating termination. The fibers are grouped into jacketed subunits and surrounded by a dielectric central member.
The core is protected by a flexible, spirally wrapped, aluminum interlocking armor that offers easy, one-step installation and up to seven times the crush protection of unarmored cables. With a flame-retardant outer jacket, this cable is particularly useful for heavy traffic or more challenging mechanical exposure conditions and applications requiring extra rugged cables.
