How to Choose a Home Theater Projector
A home theater projector is the ultimate way to get the best home theater experience. When you are trying to create a movie theater experience, nothing comes close to the projector. Projectors deliver great cinematic detail as well as color in a screen that is larger than life. The size of the screen is measured in inches and you can get life-sized images right there in your entertainment room. Before you get a projector, you need to know where you will mount it. There are ceiling projector mounts available so you won't have to worry about it taking up any extra space. Additionally, you should also get a projector screen. Projector screens can be mounted, free standing or retractable (motorized or manual). You may want to skip the screen and project the image directly to your wall,  and this is okay. However, screens deliver a more consistent and smoother image.

What to consider when shopping for a projector

Projectors from major manufacturers are all impressive, and most of their features will leave you in awe. However, it is important to note that each projector has its features. Here are some features to check before you make your purchase.
  • Resolution: The imaging chip will have a number of pixels measure top to bottom and side to side. Most high-resolution home theater projectors have 1080p-1920 x 1080 pixels. The higher the resolution of your projector is the smaller the pixels. You are ensured of viewing seamless images.
  • Picture contrast: The most important factor when it comes to picture quality is contrast. The difference between the blackest black and the whitest white can be measured by the projector’s contrast ratio spec. Ensure you get a projector with high contrast ratio as it displays deeper blacks as well as more detail in color that is subtle. Look for a projector model that has multiple lamp settings. It will help you reduce brightness in order to boost contrast ratio that will give optimal viewing for a darkened room.
  • Light output (brightness): The brightness rating of most home theater projectors is 700-2500 lumens (Projector’s light output). All projectors provide sufficient brightness that allows you to watch movies in a darkened or dimly lit room. In a situation where your house has a lot of lights, it is important for you to look for a projector that has a high brightness rating. Additionally, high brightness ratio will also help if you intend to project the image onto a wall or you intend to display an extra-large image.
  • 3D: If you have watched a 3D movie in the cinema, you know how this viewing works well. The same is true for home theater projectors. Epson 3D models are the projectors that have received the most positive reviews in providing the best clear and sharp 3D images. Epson provides plenty of light power, and this is important as the 3D glasses will dim your image conspicuously.
  • Wireless HDMI: there are some brands in the market that offer projectors with wireless HDMI. There is a wireless receiver that is built into the projector and a small transmitter module placed near your video sources. All you need to do is connect the HDMI cable between the transmitter and your component. Once you do this, you are ready to enjoy projector home theater viewing without the hassle of wires on the floor.
  • Lens shift: Ensure that your projector comes with a lens shift. It gives you a variety of options when it comes to placement of the projector. You can place your projector in a stationary position and shift the lens to the required location.
