Although it sounds spooky, Ghost Wire by Sewell probably won’t land you a new reality show or a made-for-TV movie. The benefits will outlast your 15 minutes of fame, though. For many people, the idea of running traditional speaker wire through walls or molding is chilling. It can be a huge, complicated job fraught with uncertainties and questionable aesthetics. How do you get through studs? What size wire molding do you need? What happens if you change your mind and rearrange your room?
That’s the Spirit
The only thing scary about Ghost Wire is how flat and invisible it can be. Ghost Wire is a spool of 16 AWG speaker wire, about the width and thickness of duct tape. With a strong adhesive on one side, this speaker wire can be run along walls, floors, and under carpets. It is only .5mm thick so it can be easily camouflaged with paint or wallpaper on visible surfaces. Want a real hidden seam? A thin layer of spackle along the edges makes the wire truly undetectable. You don’t even have to sacrifice quality for convenience. Ghost Wire is made from 100% pure solid copper so you can expect the same clear, clean audio as you would from any of FireFold’s ordinary speaker wire.
You may want a level for vertical surfaces to ensure you are perfectly flat, and it is helpful for longer runs to peel and stick the Ghost Wire in manageable 5’ sections. In most cases, you will need the SW-29982 Ghost Wire Terminal Block to connect your flat wire to regular round speaker wire for receiver and speaker terminations, but even attaching the terminals is a breeze. This product is rated for both indoor and outdoor use and can handle a speaker output up to 10 amps.
