HDMI over Cat6 Extender with IR - 164ft
HDMI Extender Over Cat6 Cable with Built-in IR (Up to 164ft at 1080p)
Limited by the distance of HDMI cables and need a cost-effective way to extend the length of your HDMI cable? FireFold's HDMI extender extends HDMI signals up to 164 feet using Cat6 cables with support up to 1080p. Built-in EDID pass-through allows display capabilities to be communicated. Constructed with a durable aluminum design with wall mountable cut outs for easy installation in any application, the HDMI extender features Full HD support and support for uncompressed audio outputs (LPCM, Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio). IR control also allows you to easily control your source devices, such as Blu-ray players, television receivers, and other HDMI enabled devices.
Extending HDMI Cables through Cat6 Ethernet Cables
Designed as a solution for installations that require longer HDMI lengths, the HDMI-SINGLE-EXTEND uses Cat6 23AWG Ethernet cables to extend the length of a HDMI signal, with support for both video and audio up to 164 feet (50 meters) at 1080p (1920 x 1080) without any loss of quality.
Built-in EDID Pass-Through
The HDMI-SINGLE-EXTEND supports EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) pass-through. This allows display capabilities to be communicated, providing optimal resolution when sending content from the HDMI source to the display.
Plug and Play Operation
Setting up the HDMI extender is as easy as plugging in the HDMI source on the transmitter end and then plugging in the HDMI display on the receiver end. Plug in the included IR cables on both ends to allow the IR signal to be sent remotely, select the length of Cat6 or higher Ethernet 23AWG cable (up to 164 feet) to plug into the Ethernet port on both ends of the transmitter / receiver, and then plug in the included 5V 1A power adapters on both ends for operation.
For best performance, we recommend the use of Cat6 or higher 23AWG bare copper cables if running at the peak length of 164 feet. In practice, if you're running at distances up to 75ft, using Cat5e / Cat6 24AWG will not be an issue.
HDMI Extender (Repeater) - 115ft 3D Ready HDMI Booster
Signal is as Signal Does
HDMI is a marvel of technology. Digital pulses zoom over delicate wires, bringing you audio and video in sharp clarity and contrast. Paired with the newest LED televisions, it can certainly seem as though little slices of life are being beamed across time and space, directly onto your screen. HDMI is a sprinter, though, and not well-suited to marathon runs. Depending on output strength, cable quality, and a number of other factors, you might find yourself losing signal before you get to where you’re going. Resolution is usually the first to drop, followed by the sound or image. It doesn’t matter how long your cable is- if the signal can’t make it, you’ve got one high-tech jump rope.
Run, Cables! Run!
The job of HDMI repeaters and extenders is to train or push the signal to go farther. There are several different ways to do that. One of the easiest ways is FireFold’s HDMI-EXTEND. This HDMI repeater acts just like a regular coupler with female ports for connecting the ends of two cables. The real magic is on the inside. Using only the native 5V power carried over HDMI, this small and unimposing extender can essentially double the distance you can send your signal. Instead of a mere 50 feet to play with, this coupler can regenerate your signal for 115 feet or you could daisy-chain two of them and increase your run to 165 feet. You don’t have to sacrifice any of the advanced features of HDMI, either. High-definition resolutions, HDCP compliance, and 3D playback are all left intact for the length of your run.
This basic coupler design means there’s no set-up. You just plug in your cables and you’re ready to go. There are two things to keep in mind when using the HDMI-EXTEND. The first is to make sure it is flipped the right way. There are clear labels by the HDMI ports that say either “input” or “output.” The cable coming from your Blu-ray, DVD, or other source goes into the input and the cable to your display goes into the output. The second thing is that this repeater works best with a maximum length of 60 feet from source to repeater and 45 feet from repeater to TV. Stay within those parameters and you’re sure to enjoy all of the perks of a solid HDMI signal.

Shake it Up
With great digital power comes great digital responsibility. Many new HDMI devices have to adhere to the most recent wave of copy protection called High-bandwidth Digital Copy Protection, or HDCP. New devices are issued codes, and they are programmed to have to check them against a large database of approved codes for your electronics to send and receive signals. HDCP acts like a bouncer, checking the IDs of every device at the door to ensure no authorized entries are made.
This process, known as the HDMI handshake, isn’t flawless and errs on the side of caution every time. If you’re having trouble with the transmission of audio, video, or both, there are a couple of common, easy fixes. Just like in every other type of technology, the first thing to try is a reboot. Turn your equipment off for a few minutes and then switch it back on. The next step, if a reboot proves unsuccessful, is to unplug your devices and connect them again in a different order. It usually works best to start with the device that supports the lowest resolution. For example, if one of your screens is 1080p and the other is 720p, connect to the 720p first. Still having issues?
