Sony Comes Out with New High-End Sony Walkman

Sony Walkman History

35 years ago, Sony came out with the classic Sony Walkman that brought hours of listening pleasure to teenagers and adults alike. If you’re a child of the 70s or 80s, you undoubtedly rocked out to classic rock with your Walkman. But the birth of Apple’s iPod made the Walkman obsolete—until now. Now, the company is attempting to bring back the Walkman. But the new version is being targeted towards high-end users—with a hefty price tag of $700!

Why So Expensive You May Ask?

So why is the new Sony Walkman so expensive? Renamed the ZX1, it has the capability to house 128 gigabytes of storage. It’s also carved manually from costly thick aluminum which reduces the impact on sound quality from unnecessary vibrations. It also allows you play a high-quality stable with reduced noise. The ZX1 promises high-resolution audio and it can store up to 20,000 songs. It also weighs about the same as a standard mobile phone. The new version of the Sony Walkman hit stores in Japan last December, where it quickly sold out. It will be making it way around the world this year.
